Normally I wouldn't nominate "Very Hard" hacks for featuring (usually bc it amounts to artificial difficulty for hacks that get this rating), this is the exception to the rule of "Very Hard", at least for me.

Nachos and Fried Oreos is a hack that rewards skilled and enduring play across a variety of gimmicky levels that organically introduce their concepts and run with it throughout such levels. Much of the time, any failures resulted from playing is on you, the player. It also has difficulty options based on your play preference of lives mattering or not, which for casuals to play on easier modes allowing you to start with 99 lives, while those looking for additional challenges can start with far less, and there also exists the option to
prevent gaining lives for some of the most restrictive self-imposed challenges
.

Basically for the fact that this hack rewards skilled play through its thoughtful level design and having difficulty options for accessibility, I will recommend featuring this hack.

On Pixel Art Requests: I generally do not accept work unless I either have the time, if I see your project worth my time to contribute towards, and that is usually me doing the approaching to you on that.
-I also do not accept speculative work as I do have various art I made on-hand with me.
-I am more receptive to equivalent exchange of resources in which case, you can DM me wherever I have an active presence on for the details.
-Other times I'm availible for your project is C3 request threads I may run.

sure, oreos is great

the levels are really well designed, it's very hard, but in a fair way if that makes sense, i'm not sure how i feel about the gaming-over system, i guess it encourages careful gameplay and not stupidly losing lives, but other than that, i loved the hack

--------------------
Legacy ports zip (now that those went down because Dropbox)
I also feel like nominating Elephants and Snakes and Crocodiles by yours truly

It is a well made hack, has the same line of thought as the prequel and is enjoyable at best. It's more acessible in the sense that you can pick any levels from any order to progress to the next part and lose lives as much as you want. If the retry system made you spawn on the boss arena in certain levels rather than the room before it would be great, but it's more of a personal nitpick.
I also like how chocolate-y it gets as we go on (and I'm not just talking about the ASM). Extra points to the soundtrack, with well chosen music. And that coming from one of the most notorious level designers in history.
My vote goes on to Storks, Apes and Crocodiles by the evil genious himself. I played almost all of the hacks that got nominated and I have to say it was a tough battle but storks won my heart, just overall great level design, tough obstacles, without many trolls and bringing overall a revolution in the kaizo design, considering it created ideas for other great hacks like invictus and such.
+1 for storks
+1 for Nachos and Fried Oreos.

Super star mario world, is SUCH AMAZING HACK! i love the level design graphics, music, and a lot more! it was very fun to play and the levels did not felt repetitive, and fell like a good challenge, so i think this hack should get feature in my opinion! #smw{:TUP:}
Storks and Apes and Crocodiles is now a featured hack!
Congrats and thanks to Morsel, for making this masterpiece of a hack, which mixes evil level design with extremely hard challenges and fun obstacles. I recommend it to everyone looking for a hard kaizo hack that won't mess around.
A romhack that should be featured is "Yoshi's Strange Quest", despite remembering those moments where I raged (Mostly because I was bad at the game + I had a computer that emulated SMES games worse than my Wii, seriously)... A romhack only for good players, filled with sicko mechanics, jokes here and there...
I may replay this without using savestates (since I won't have the lag spikes of d00m) and with an XBox controller

--------------------
RIP my friend's Ridley, he dropped it cuz I combo'd him a bit tol much as Mario.
My vote goes along with thewhiskas27, Yoshi's Strange Quest has so many good stuff like graphics like the Locker room, unique gimmicks and such.
So 2 Mice Walk Into A Bar

Slurdgery

Both hacks use their respective resources (in 2 Mice its ideas derived from Stick MICE's focused ASM gimmicks while in Slurdgery its mainly edited vanilla sprites) in creating creative and challenging levels that generally test the player of their respective ideas in a manner that is fun and not unfair to play. This is the reason why I think both of these hacks deserve a chance to be featured.

I'd like to nominate 2 Mice, Baby Kaizo World and Garlic. All hacks with great level design, flow and aesthetics.
supporting so 2 mice walk into a bar and slurdgery. i'm not sure what could I add, but those ROM hacks are good.

yoshi's strange quest... i'm not sure, honestly this rom hack is trying to be brutal mario in terms of asm, but i think that's all it has going for it, the level design is meh, personally i'm opposed to that one. really good asm showcase tho.

super wakana land, yeah, no, opposed towards it being featured... do we really want to feature a hack with attempted rape as part of its plot, even ignoring its boring level design

i'm not too familiar with kaizo hacks, so i won't be voting on baby kaizo world and garlic

Legacy ports zip (now that those went down because Dropbox)
If nobody has, I want to nominate The Joy of Kaizo.

It's been a while since the hack was made, but it still feels fresh in gameplay. It has 3 difficulty modes, which is still unique. A lot of ASM was smuggled into the levels to make a new experience and there were many instances I'd never seen before thereof. You can also hear much obscure music, which is a good opportunity to discover new OST (you're simply searching SMW Music using the names from credits). Oh, and it has one of the best uses of a castle cutscene and it's also the funniest I know. EDIT: I forgot to say it has many beautiful backgrounds, which is weird because backgrounds are a key part of the hack.

The only thing I think is a flaw is annoying parts in Advanced mode that majorly impede a savestateless playthrough, but since Storks got nominated, it shouldn't be a problem.
I have a Discord server as well!

My KLDC2021 is out!

People are so shallow.
i know im kinda skirting the lines here since i was involved with the project, but there's no reason why JUMP1/2 shouldn't be featured. i had very little impact on the project, and i feel like there were many users who put such hard work into this hack that they should be recognized for it. jump1/2 went through years of hard work and ended up being one of the most polished hacks i've ever seen.

i am also going to second slurdgery and garlic to be featured. both are pretty creative hacks with a great focus on level design. i'm opposing yoshi's strange quest, mostly because i feel the level design is not up to standard even if it is chalk full of fancy asm.

edit: while i'm at it i might as well vote for the other nominated hacks:

Luigi's Misadventures - Tsux Namine's factor: opposed, mostly due to generic and questionable level design.

Super Mario Worldwide & Super Mario Worldwide 2 - opposed, neither feel particularly unique to justify being featured.

Claustrophobia - supported, this is a pretty creative kaizo hack that uses its gimmick to the full extent it can.

Super Wakana Land - opposed, i feel the edgy / lewd contents of this hack are outdated and really don't reflect what seem to be the general interests of the current hack section.

i'm also gonna throw my homeboy a bone and nominate Invictus by juzcook. everyone jocks it, and it is admittedly a well designed and creative kaizo hack that utilizes custom sprites and asm pretty well.

fuck it, might as well throw grand poo world 2 in there as well. two very notable kaizo hacks i see talked about all the time, we might as well feature them here as well.

I agree with idol that JUMP1/2 should be featured, if JUMP was featured, it wouldn't make sense if it's sequel isn't. It's simply a quality product - better focused level design, better difficulty, and plenty of creativity and fun. And it's quite replayable, too. It's JUMP, but better. I support it.

and just like idol i had very little impact on it, so i think it's fair.
To have a non-creator vote, I also support JUMP 1/2. Equaly creative level design as its predecessor (unique ideas, fun level design, etc.) but also is more accessable (still goes very hard at the end but the difficulty is more balanced now) and the overworld is very creative in multiple ways (such as getting creative with paths and some other twists).

--------------------
Okay, my layout looks ugly.
I support the nomination of super Wakana Land, it's a very fun experience in general, and it seemd very creative and impressive. The level design was genuinely fun and enjoyable, and I quite liked the use of level gimmicks, especially in making the sacrifice levels. The extra content in 1.0 is neat,
and it does make for a conclusion to the whole sacrifice level thing,
but I think the level design in 2.1 was better in general. The way the hidden secrets were hidden was actually pretty nice in general, they usually required some amount of searching, but they didn't feel like they were horrible or especially obscure. I also liked the SUCCen ship puzzle, the hint for the puzzle was fairly clear once you found it, but the process of exploring and looking through the level for the hint was nice. The secret exits I would say were also not too difficult to find, and were satisfying to get. Aesthetically, the game looks brilliant and it makes for a nice, satisfying package, and soundtrack-wise, not only is the music good on its own, but I would say it goes fantastic with the game itself. Also, the reward for finding the hidden secrets is quite nice,
the lewd world goes beyond being just lewd, and is instead just a really creative set of levels that feel really fun, cool, and unique. The reward for beating the lewd world is, well, kinda meh, but the world itself feels like a fun reward in my experience at least
. While I can understand not liking the NSFW elements of the game and finding them a bit tasteless, what I liked was the way the NSFW elements weren't just pointless erotica, they were incorporated into the gameplay to make them have, well, function, which is always nice.
SUPPORT for Claustrophobia, Invictus, and Grand Poo World 2. All three stand independently of their creators as examples of high-quality chocolate kaizo game design.

In a similar mindset, I would also nominate Quickie World. Universally one of the most recommended "first" hacks, it's a great example of creative vanilla kaizo level design while still being an engaging and rewarding experience to play through.

I'm not a doctor.

There has been a debate in the NFL for many years, regarding players (Lawrence Taylor of the NY Giants is the typical example) who are absolute legends of the game and deserve Hall of Fame status on the basis of their career accomplishments, but have trouble securing this high honor because of things they did off the gridiron (oo boy, you should read about the guy).

I'm on the side that a hack which deserves recognition if it didn't have questionable content, deserves recognition regardless of its questionable content, which is why I give a high recommendation to Super Wakana Land. I'm having a great time playing it, so far, and am compelled to respect the obvious time and effort invested in its creation. I judge it as a success.

As much as I agree, unfortunately idol already made it clear on some Discord servers that she does not want the hack to be the prime example of how to make an SMW Rom Hack because of it's questionable content. It went to be so bad that she convinced raocow to not support it.

So I don't see it happening unfortunately.
