This was a fun contest. Being limited made me try new things I wouldn't normally use. I think this is a contest that encourages you to do the most within the original game limitations. And yes, I definetly want to this hosted again.
I liked this contest! I'm ok with the current rules, leave them unchanged. I also want this to be hosted in the next years.
OLDC should stay, it was actually more fun to make very limited levels than I anticipated!
besides no one can complain about vldc now that this exists
Yeah, this was a lot of fun.
Though I will say I was worried about the whole 'unintended behaviors' rule for a bit since it brought a lot of questions/discussion, but I think it worked out.
Definitely yes. Making pure vanilla levels is my favorite kind of level to do even if I suck at it. The contest itself was very successful too.
it was more fun than having to code ASM or work my ass off for aesthetics, I say definitely host more and keep it as it is
Although I could haven't finished my level before the deadline, I think the contest was one of the most fun ones. And I wanna admit I'm gonna finish my level for the next contest. Pure level design contests should be annual IMO. I think we can leave the rules in their current state.I have a Discord server as well! (by joining, you agree to the rules)

Hey it's this years' Variety Path.
I tried, but it does not hold up to the original.
For essentially not trying, I expected to actually get last.
I did utter shit as per usual. I'm happy that at least one judge thought my level was decent.
Congrats to the winners!

Hi.
oh nice, 7th place! not bad for having built the level in literally 3 minutes while asleep, whilst not putting any effort in at all, in fact my eyes weren't even open. In fact, the amount of effort I put into my entry was so small that I honestly put more time and energy into zipping up the level intona folder and posting it on SMWC. Congrats to the winners I guess, AKA the try hards. As for me, I am totally happy with my placement, since I literally put negative effort into my entry. Maybe I will put an honest effort in next year and easily snag first place with ease, but it's not likely. Instead, I'll probably just barely put any effort in again and then be perfectly content with my less than 1st place results. Honestly, not trying at all takes all the pressure off! Cause then the results really don't matter. I strongly recommend others to take this strategy in future contests as well. For the next contest, I plan to throw my entry together so lazily and haphazardly, that I would find genuine enjoyment out of placing in an extemely mediocre position. In fact, it would make me ecstatic to see my lazily put together level place around the middle of the pack. I mean, if I put in the effort I would get top 3 of course
this is the only good contest. A few suggestions though:
One, Mario needs to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine. Two, whenever Mario's not on screen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's Mario"? Three, make it annualask me if i give a f*ck...

can you teach me your secrets because i adhered to this mantra but got 60 something. i think fpzero was on to me.
@Gbreeze
I honestly think you're kidding. It's impossible to design a level with closed eyes. I don't think you didn't put effort in your level, particularly
in the part with layer 2 smasher
. I definitely need to try your one out!
Did you know that there's thing that is called, um... sarcasm? (Aka non-serious post)
As for rules, leave them as-is.
