I assume that lava is part of the background. If so, it blends too much with FG lava. I think its color should be slightly changed, so it's not that clashing. Why do America and the rest of the world have to use different 7 Up logos?

Adding to what RainbowMan and the others said, you have the same palette problem both in 8-2 and 8-3 regarding lava. I'd suggest you to darken the lava BG a little so the FG stands better. About 8-1... even the vanilla FG palette 7 would be better suited for it, in order to give a nicer atmosphere to your level.
"Mario had entered it" would make it more clear that some action happened after the previous one.
"She asked Mario" would sound more correct.
"and Bowser had been there" also would make more clear that Bowser was on the island before Mario.
The only serious complaint I have is that most levels, particularly in worlds 2-4 and 7, feel the same not only due to their aesthetics, but also usage of monsters in general. This makes the hack more boring to play and - in order to prevent that - use more distinctive aesthetics and more variety of monsters for them.
This hack seems promising by far and I wouldn't like it to get hated for such a thing. Why do America and the rest of the world have to use different 7 Up logos?
Is that the level from the screenshot in your first post that used to have brown ground? Gray suits it a lot better (at least that shade does), so nice work there. I'm liking the minimalist item box border as well.
