Quotes like these don't sound very convincing. If I recall correctly, the main reason for the infamous car mechanic was to make sure people wouldn't have to wait so long for their turn and to keep everyone involved. Of course, this was also the main reason Star Rush exists, but I still haven't heard much favourable comments on that game's board system either.

Quotes like these, however:

...to get 10 coins.

...Might indicate a return to the classic formula, especially since I recall neither coins nor setting numbers of turns to be apart of the previously mentioned car mechanic.

Quotes like this, however:

...Might mean that they're trying something new again, whether it's another completely new layout, or at the very least, implementing a lives system of some sort into the classic formula. I'm curious to see the outcome of either, but seeing how the recent history of the series has been received, I can't guarantee everyone else will be as optimistic.

But in the end, none of what I've said would even matter, because the lack of quotes like this:

Cases like this can only result in quotes like this:

FFS, Nintendo, it's not the 90's anymore. Stop telling us how to enjoy your games.

This is for minigame Island. It's a single player mode from Mario Party 1 where you must win minigames (some of them with special conditions) to advance. If you lose the minigame you lose a life.

But yeah, no online is a killer.
