(some might call it a hoax)
who wants to make this title screen a reality?

This is a thing that's happening, now. Achievements in old video games.
Thank you for the layout, Erik557.
Man, I wish this would've worked. Oh well.
If not for respect, but dramatic effect, take on the face of Guy Fawkes.

i was going to make a full hack of this with the enemy & boss sprites being edited too, including the title screen but my lazy ass got tired after making the mario sprites #wario{:)}

I'm working on it. I can't seem to find the screaming mario face, though - but I haven't done much searching either.

You can't recreate that title screen with the default palettes, you need some 8x8 tiles containing red+yellow+black and some that are red+blue+black.

But on the other hand, level C7 doesn't use palette 1, so you can just give that to L3 and have enough. (If you need even more, move the background from palette 0 to 7.)

Well, here's the small Mario looking up edit which can help you recreate that screen.
I have a Discord server as well!

Saw this on r/sbubby a few days ago.

Ok i decided not to do the titlescreen but do every other part of the game. I've replaced all fonts in the game (and most graphical text, like peach yelling help in the bowser fight) with A's. I've also replaced most of small mario's poses with the screaming face. (mario GFX so far, current patch).
Ok i decided to do the title screen after all.

I made this in an image editing program, now porting it to the snes.
when you're finished be sure to make a thread in the work in progress subforum this is important
sure. I'm currently having major minor problems with my script to give me the tiles I need, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Also, A'a aaaaaaaaa aaaaaa aaaaa aaaaa aaaaaaaa aaaa aa aaaaaa aa aaaa aa aaa aaaaa A aaaa, aaa A'a aaaa A'aa aaaaaa aa aaa.
What have I done.

The auto-generator currently gives me 148 different tiles (~20 more than in clean smw), using 6 different palettes (3 more than in clean smw). Why did I think it would be this simple?

Edit: i think i figured out the palettes.
Making good progress with the title screen! Currently I have a script that takes in an image and GFX28,29 and turns it into modified versions of GFX28,29 and a horribly organized table of what tiles to use where. I should be able to get the full thing out in ~3 hours.
