Both got different Colors and they move fast (see GIF).
Also they're protected from Fireballs.

Here are suggestions to make this different enough from the original sprite:
  • Combine both sprites in one
  • Use extra bytes for both X and Y speed customization
  • Customizable animation (speed, number of frames etc.)
  • Customizable pause between speed flips

Protip: if you think a sprite is too simple, always try to go for customization aspects. While it doesn't necessarily make the sprite more complex, it allows people to use it in many more different ways.
