👋
I don't have anything meaningful to release but I felt like making this thread (which probably isn't even worth making) as I've felt a little bit motivated to hack recently and so show some screenshots of how the progress of making an old hack of mine from scratch is going, after porting my ROM to another so many times I've already lost count of.

This thread I made in 2013 showcased the hack I meant, which attempted on an unusual plot and making good use of the RPG-styled counter patch and all... it's changed quite a lot. I've completely changed the graphics style it previously went for, decided to not make use of RPG aspects for the gameplay, the plot was improved to make some more sense and what's the biggest change in the hack is that I chose to make a non-linear overworld, so that the player could initially play the hack in whatever order they'd like.

Before:

After:

Overworld, animated (subject to major changes though).
Old level to be remade, but designed for this hack when I thought of bringing it back before.

(The hack will have an English version as well, also ignore the ugly windows of the house inside, they're still being worked on! There are also font inconsistencies because I haven't finished porting stuff to a new ROM yet.)

As you can see I've also decided to implement a few SMB3 elements in the new version, such as powerups from the game (thanks to LX5's powerups patch), animated overworld tiles, the P-Meter and more things are to come if I'm motivated to still work on the project, which I hope to be!

Sorry guys, I barely have anything to show. Have a good C3 though!
THIS IS GOOD LOOKING 0w0

Man, I would like to play hacks more often, and this may be one of them! Well done. And good luck with it :)
This looks nice. Good work!

Man, this is looking so cute. I remember playing (maybe testing?) the previous attempt and it was already entirely something else and also played nicely, so I guess I can have high expectations from this revamp -- and the aesthetics show, lol. The overworld is great (non-linear is always good!) and the graphical consistency is tight. Your overworld border reminds me of my hack's, I wonder if you drew inspiration from it. #tb{:p} There's a minor typo in that level name in the last pic though: verdnant -> verdant.

Good work so far and good luck!

I still remember this hack.

I can see lots of improvements, especially on the overworld! Looking forward on how will this turn out since you mentioned you implemented some SMB3 elements there. The graphics are looking nice, and seeing them being used properly makes it even better. I don't really have a ton to say, but for sure this going to be one of the few hacks that I'd like to play in the future!

I hope you finish this hack someday. Good luck, and happy C3 for you as well!
É muito bom te ouvir, Mirann. Suas habilidades trabalhadoras tornaram você mais forte e melhor.

Espero ver o projeto finalizado em breve!
I like how this looks. I don't play SMW hacks all that often but a lot of interesting ones are being shown this C3, and yours is one of them. I'll definitely have to play it later. I just, uh... wish I could read the text.

Check out Extra Mario World!
This is definitely a well-made hack with several neat details and gimmicks. It doesn´t seem to be really outstanding so far, but it´s definitely beyond the average #tb{:]}

Like I said earlier, I really really like your overworld, and it looks great in full. Having Mario start in the middle is a very nice touch as well. You didn't show much in terms of levels, but it's great to read that you did start on designing them. Definitely looking forward to this one!
Thanks a lot for the replies everyone! I appreciate the support even though I barely had anything to show off!

Indeed! Although partially, I was suggested to make a night-ish border at first, but I wasn't fond of only doing that and then I looked at the best overworld borders I had in mind for inspiration.

If it ever gets finished that is... but I appreciate that you'd have taken your time to play it if I had something playable!
As for the text, it's basically that Mario has decided to set off to an adventure on his own to know what's the shine on the top of a mountain is, no longer worrying about kingdoms or anything. It'll be better explained in the hack itself!

Love the aesthetics here, it's hard to see a redrawn hack that's both consistent and good-looking nowadays. The non-linear overworld is interesing, looking forward to see how that plays out.
This looks great, I really like the OW its very impressive! I look forward to seeing more of this ^u^ Good luck with it
