Custom Morton Koopa boss Softlock

I'm using Koops' Morton Koopa custom boss as the W1 boss in my hack, because Tsutarja's Boom Boom boss is not compatible with SA-1.

The boss shows up fine, but once it dies, the status bar disappears, then reappears, and the game softlocks (Mario can't move, but animations still play normally).

If !GoalMusic is set to $03, the status bar doesn't disappear, but the game still softlocks.

I'm using custom music (AddMusicK) in my hack.

Strange... I had the same problem. Could be the fact changing music via ASM does not work well if you apply amk to your ROM. Aside this, I don't know anything else that could crash, as I saw the code myself and it appears to be properly converted. You could always try to make it teleport, use the windowing or something that doesn't need to change the music.

!GoalMusic is set to $0B (the boss defeated music), and I tried setting !EndLevel to 0 and inserting the level ender sprite included with PIXI.

Even with the level ender sprite in the level with the boss, the game still soflocked.

I tried to reproduce this and the only issue I found is that the !EndLevel define is completely ignored (great job, me). The level end works fine on both a LoROM and an SA-1 ROM with PIXI and AddmusicK applied to them.

The only way I could get it softlock is by using the Minimalist Course Clear patch, which is notorious for breaking every level ending. If you're using that, I'm not sure if any boss will work properly for you. Anyhow, setting !GoalMusic to $80 works even with the Minimalist Course Clear patch.
Setting !GoalMusic to $80 fixed the soflocking. Thanks!
