Hi everyone!

Like a good number of people, I am relatively new to creating levels. I wanted to learn and practice level creation with making levels that I found enjoyable (and probably near my skill level). Ive played a good number of hacks (Kaizo 1, Dram, Super Hark Bros, L2K, Legends of Mario, JUMP, Super Quickie World etc.) and they've all been wonderful to play so I hope that I can create something as good as those.

Right now the title of the hack is "Ropes" although thats not really the whole theme of the hack or even what Im basing it around. I just dont have a better name for it yet. The idea I had was to create a level a week, but reality sets in and its probably been like 1/4 of a level per week lol. Its been a really nice time learning ASM, level design, and 8 bit graphics editing.

Anyway, so much more to do to make this hack good but here are some of the first 5 levels that are each like 65% done in t he trailer and a couple screenshots of levels Im currently working on.

Ropes - Trailer

Switch Palace

Ice Cave level

5/12-ish levels started

Levels left to create:
-Underwater 2
-Ghost House
-Yoshi/Puzzle/Cape level? (Maybe all 3)

Custom Music needs to still be added. Trailer video uses my current ideas for music for those levels.

I'll add videos of level playthroughs at a later date.

My original intention for this hack is to ramp from Hard to Kaizo:Light. Right now I'd definitely say that the levels so far tend to be Kaizo:light only. I want to get all of the levels made first and then go back and tune them to a ramping difficulty. As well as tune each section to be more unique or interesting. I do feel like some parts of my levels are somewhat standard kaizo setups which I like playing but might not be interesting. So I need to make them a bit more unique.

Thanks for checking out this work in progress! Any feedback is welcome!
I assume the ice cave is just a draft of what the graphics are gonna look like?
I'm also definitely not a fan of the flashing skull inside the block. Do keep it with one color only; either black or white are better.

I also noticed you overlooked some tiny issues in some parts of your trailer. Some instances of that include the lack of sprite buovancy for the fish and also the ledge edge tiles with dirt on the corner. Watch out for that.

Overall, not much to say about the design other than how it seems pretty basic. Good luck, man!

O que você precisa é de um retoque total.
