I'm currently making a kaizo hack and the HUD is getting in the way for a lot of the jumps. I am currently looking to get rid of everything other than lives. I have tried using the death counter patch, but it always starts off as a glitched value. If anybody knows how to get rid of these pieces of the HUD, please respond.

Try looking around in the patches section. I found these right off the bat:

Super Status Bar

Minimalist Status Bars

Remove Status Bar

You could probably also just disable stuff on the status bar using stuff from the ROM map, and then erase stuff on the status bar you don't need.

You can use the SMW Status Bar Editor tool to rearrange/hide specific counters and edit the default status bar's layer 3 data.
You would still need to look through the ROM Map for disabling certain stuff like the bonus stars and item reserve though.
