SMW The Princess Rescue 2 - Luigi's to the Rescue Demo (Please close this)

Hello guys, you probably remember I wanted to release a demo of my hack during the last C3, but I didnt got free time to polish the hack for a definitive release at the time.
So here we are now, the definitive version of the demo, but I would like to request if someone could do a betatesting for it, I will give credit for anyone willing to help me#tb{:j}.

Demo - Beta Testing

Lenght: 5 worlds with 51 levels and 63 exits.(I know, its long)

I already made a testing through the entire hack before on snes9x on my 3ds, but it never hurts to ask people for something that I might have overlooked.
Thanks everyone!

For some reason, when I entered this pipe, the game froze on a black screen:

The same thing happened when completing the level.

Emulator: Snes9x 1.56.2

humm Strange, that never hapenned to me while testing, I tested several times using on snes9x 1.54 and snes9x for 3ds.

Just retested on snes9x 1.56, and it still didn't happenned.
Did this happened with someone else?

Here we go, my cupcake!
I could the effort that you put into this hack.
You showed evolution here (what is great), but:

TITLE SCREEN LOOP:

Ok ins't a bad thing but if the you're using a static Title Screen why not a patch that remove the loop? Would be cool!

AUTOSAVE?:

Your hack trigger the prompt save in two ways: pressing start on map and beating a level. But what is the reason for press start if i can save the game beating a simple level?

DO NOT TELL ME:

Beware when you introduces something in your hack. Is weird a caped Luigi see a box with a info about the cape AFTER the player realize how to use earlier on the game.

SWITCH PALACE THING:

Why the player need replay the whole level and the whole design just for get one of them?
It's a good idea but the fact of Switch is near to Secret Exit is... well... "forced".

Tip: Put the secret exit in the main level. Then, Make the player to find the Switch Room.

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS:

This demo show how much your skills are improved, Bandicoot.
The difficulty curve is so smooth and appreciated.
The exploration is clear and fair, making everything fun.

Good luck with your project, my cupcake.
Keep going! :3
Check my purple website!
Thanks for the feedback Thalles, I'll patch the title screen loop.
The prompt after every level is a resource I use in every hack I make, because I find annoying in SMW when you need to quicksave your progress and have to beat a Castle level just to do it, it also helps the player from forgeting to save before exiting the game.

I used the press start to save patch because the game only prompt the option the first time the player is beating the level, but if the player miss the star coins and return to a beaten level later it wont prompt again.
So this way the player can save the collectibles acquired if he return to a level later.

I'll fix that#smw{:peace:}

About the switch palaces, they don't have the secret exits, the goal triggers the same exit as the switch, they are only there because the switch wont reapear once the player have beaten the level the first time, so the player wont get stuck to that room at the end of the level, I could have fixed that with a "side exit enabled" but then the player would always restart in the midway point if he wished to restart from the beginning.

what level / stage is this, Green Jerry? I did not experience the game crashing/freezing on that part and I am using snes9x 1.56.2 x64/64bit on a Windows PC.

bandicoot, see my latest comment here.

note to ThalesMangaka about the Switch Palaces: I don't mind replaying these Switch Palace levels since these levels also feature star coins that need to be collected.
Erpster, I already fixed that thanks! #smw{:peace:}
That level he mentioned the game freezing is the first level: Sarasa hills
but I also didnt experienced the freeze in any emulators I tested yet.
I'm a bit out of free time and motivation to work on the hack lately, but I will do another playtest through the entire hack and send the demo to the smw hacks section till the end of next week.

I've completed worlds 1 and 2, and here are the issues that I've found (excluding the ones that ThalesMangaka mentioned):

World 1:

Buried Catacombs: The spiky tops are stuck in the quicksand.

Pyramid Exploration: The Layer 3 BG doesn't scroll here. Was it intentional?
The door also has the same palette as the BG.

1# Pokey'n Fortress: The BG still doesn't scroll here. Was it intentional?

World 2:

Chuckin Rock Hils: This platform sometimes doesn't spawn.

Monty Mole Mayhem: Priotity issue.

2# Netclimb Tower: This can happen in the sinking layer 2 net room.

*through
*Good Luck.

Also it's possible to get infinite lives in the level Wing Cap Hills.

Thanks, I fixed them all#smw{:peace:}
During this time I was also testing the hack, plus working on world 6 levels, and since I finished them all they will be included in the demo.
I will just redo another test in the entire game and then send the demo this week.
Thanks everyone for the help!
I'll give credits for all of you!#smw{:TUP:}

ok. hope there's a new beta version coming out this October or whenever it is ready.
Hello guys, I'm here just for some updates regarding this.

First I must apologize because I decided to cancell this demo of the hack, during this time I had some ideas for world 7 and already started working on his levels.
Also I figured out that I will probably finished the game soon at January 2019, so it would be better to release the full game at once instead of releasing a HUGE demo spoling almost the entire content of the final version like I did with the SMWTPR1.

I found the root of this problem, it have to do with the star powerup I placed just after the midway point in this level, for some reason it randomly freezes the game sometimes, but I still dont know how to fix this.

I am still unable to reproduce the freezing problem on that 1st level in world 1 on my end.

I'm wondering how many lives did Green Jerry had when encountering the problem.

Yea, I think it's best to just release the final version in early 2019 when most of the problems get worked out.

only other "bug" in SMWTPR2 demo is the same in SMWTPR1 final; broken game saves in Game slot 3. do NOT choose "Game 3" slot in title screen & save game in that slot or most of game save data will get lost for good.

I was just able to reproduce it once too, and I did a lot of playthroughs through that level.

Decided to play worlds 3 and 4.

World 3:

Steep Slopy Caves:

Is this power up supposed to be out of its block already?

The pipe cutoffs the lava.

Donut Lift Forest:

The trees cuts the bushes.

Eerie Ice House:

Grassland in an ice world?

Ice Bro's Returns:

For some reason, this randomly happened. This only happened one time.

Icy Hill Dash:

Priority issue.

Volcanic Timed Lift:

Note blocks changes their colors when you bounce on them.

Bad midway point and goal post palette.

3#Fire and Ice Fort:

I'd darken the BG in this part.
Luigi also has blue shading in this part.
Also ? and turn blocks change to yellow to blue when you hit them.

World 4:

Snakeblock Lake:

Slowdown happens in this part.

Float Muncher Skies:

Are shells supposed to be green-pink?

Amazing Hammer Bay:

These platforms may not spawn.

Is that pink shell-less Koopa a glitched custom sprite?

Glitched dolphin.

Switch Flood House:

Cutoff door.

Tropical Darkness:
(No screenshot)
The game slows down in this level because of the disco light.

W5 Map:

Perspective error.

Will do world 5 later.

Thanks for the reports Green Jerry, I already fixed some of them while testing the hack, but you noticed some that I missed.
Thanks a lot for the help.

Yes, I wanted to do that so the player can use the fire flower on the ice blocks up there to get the star coin, it is the first time will encounter this block if they missed the hidden section on level 3-1.

I noticed this too, I'm thinking on use this instead, but since I'm using uberasm(patch) instead of uberasm(tool) I will have to find a way to convert it first to apply in the game.

Hello. I found two typing errors in readme and credits.txt
First, in this part..
"Special Thanks:
-People who suported me, ..."
I think you have to change 'suported' into 'supported'.
Second one is in DDA system.
Dificulty -> difficulty

Thank you.
