For what it's worth, I started watching it yesterday. The animation is so low-budget CGI it hurts to watch sometimes, but the setting is pretty charming! Something different for once, anyway. I also like the sprinkled-in animal facts.

I guess we'll see if the second season comes with better animation? It'd be cool if they'd eventually solve the backstory mystery too.

...and I just came back from watching the last episode. My judgement may still be clouded, but man, I really really liked this show!

The characters are all likeable, and the story progressed nicely from lighthearted to mildly intense. (The ending was arguably textbook and cheesy, but it didn't bother me because I'm easy to get emotionally hooked.)

What I liked most is how explicit this show is about everything. The rules of the world are clearly explained, details people may wonder about are verbally acknowledged, every bit of information is shared, and all loose ends are eventually tied together. This is important to me for some reason, so I was left very satisfied.

So yeah. I enjoyed this a lot, and hope the second season will be made in the same vein.
