Platform Escapades (Released)

I made a new game in gamemaker. It is not a maze game however. It is a platformer. Some graphics are the same from the Maze Game, and some have been added and removed. The protagonist is the same, same with the spiked ball enemies, goal area, walls, spikes, and other things. Screens are below.

Download Platform Escapades here!

There are also new enemies like the fire spitting statue in the picture above.

Nothing new in this level, besides the brown spike. It's different from the normal silver spikes because it falls when you get too close.

Behold, a minesweeper themed world. The "unpressed" blocks are solid, and you can go through the "presed" blocks.

Try to find the character in this screenshot (hint: he's on the ceiling). The black blocks with yellow arrows are gravity reverse blocks. They shift gravity from the floor (270 degrees) to the ceiling (90 degrees) and vice versa. You can ride moving platforms while on the ceiling, also. These blocks are used for more difficult puzzles. The controls on the ceiling are the same, except that you press down to jump.
isnt there a built in jump command in gm?
Your layout has been removed.
There isn't actually. You need to use the gravity command with other commands for a proper jump engine.

It'd be cool if there was one, though.
I managed to find a jump engine thing on one the Game Maker forums.
And please try and spruce up those graphics.
Are you going to make new graphics for each area or make scrolling areas? Both would be nice to have.

Here are three screens this time.

so do you want help coding the game?

Nah, I have it all under control.

Anyway, a new block I programmed summed up in two screens.

To get across the spikes, you need to jump on the blue block hovering above them. When you jump on the blue block, however...

...the block begins to fall. Hurry and jump to the next platform before it's too late! When the block goes off-screen, it will respawn back where it started.
Now for a new update.

This is a perfectly normal level, right?

...nope. The floor in this level quickly rises. Escape before you get crushed!
Glad to see you got rid of the black square on the main character.
Maze game 2 was fun but I got stuck in an impossible puzzle.
This looks like a great game compared to the other crap I've seen lately. Hope to play it soon.
This looks interesting. Anyway, is there any point to having a level where you simply must go to the right? Also, will the reverse blocks make the floor go in the opposite way? Will it make the platform below you start rising instead?
Anti-matter Drone: That's not the only level with a moving floor. Also, when the character collides into a reverse panel, you press left to move right, and vice versa.

Anyway, I guess I'm due for a new update. In this update, I'll introduce a new enemy.

These creatures are called spikefish. They lurk in spikes and repetitively jump up to try to chomp you. These guys are often tricky to get by, and they are rarely found alone.
They sound interesting! Will there be anyway to tell if they are there? What I was asking though was if the floor would start backing up, the opposite floor start to move in or keep on going should the floor keep on moving in a stage with a moving floor. Also, I assumed that there are going to be multiple stages. Is that supposed to be an introduction to those stages?

Nope, it only moves up.

Yes. There are 3 stages with the moving floor.

Anyway, remember the bosses from the Maze Game II? Well, they're back, and badder than ever. They act differently, fight differently, and even look differently than they did from the Maze Game II. Also, the order of the appearance of the bosses has been switched.

Yes, I have graphically revamped all of the game's bosses. Let's see if you can get past them all this time.
I'm going to have to say.... Good Luck my friend, this looks quite original, I can't wait too play it ;)
Fellow gamers...
Sorry for no updates in a while. I was busy backing up my computer.

Here is a new powerup panel, called the "Metal Panel." When you walk into it...

You turn into solid metal (Suprisingly enough). When you are metal, you jump lower and fall faster. You are still vulnerable to any threats you were vulnerable to as your normal self. So, the Metal Panel is basically an obstacle, right?

...Nope. While you're metal, you can break fragile platforms by jumping on them. You can't do this while you're not metal.

Also, if Hypercam stops failing, I will try to record a playthrough of Platform Escapades before I release the game.
This is a neat idea! Will you be able to sink in water but have a limited time in it for more puzzles (i.e. You press a reverse block underwater to start falling up.) or something similar? Also, approximately how far are you in its creation?
Platform Escapades' Normal 1P Mode has been finished!
Here is a crappy playthrough of the 1P game I made. Be warned that the audio barely syncs with the video, and quality is horrendous.

Here is the video.

I have Bonus Levels and Boss Rush to work on still.
Do those beach balls lead to bonus levels? Anyway, aside from the seemingly ultra easy bosses, this looks great!
