I need help to make my own custom music

Recently, I wanted to port songs from other games. I have seen some tutorials but I don't understand anything. I know I have to get a MIDI, AddmusicK, and Anvil Studio (Wakana's tutorial uses FL Studio but Anvil is free, but I suppose it works the same). Do I need a txt file? And what do I have to do with it? And how to make the samples or use SMW instruments? How does Anvil work? Is the tempo from Anvil different from SMW tempo? Sorry, for the inconvenience, I am new at this. Thanks and have a nice day!
You will need to put in a sequence of notes that AMK can read, called "MML", into a .txt file. This can be done by typing it up manually with the MIDI as a reference, or by having the MIDI converted automatically with PetiteMM. I will note that converting a MIDI with PetiteMM isn't going to give you all that you need; you still have the instrument channels to set up. Also, if your MIDI has paired chords in one instrument channel, it could mess up your MML.

Most of the questions your asking have answers that can be found on Wakana's tutorial. It tells you the basics when it comes to setting up the instrument channels with the MML.

Thanks for the help, I will try to understand how this works. However, Wakana uses FL Studio, while I am using Anvil, does it work the same? Are the tempos different? I know I can use Vilelabot to calculate them.
Actually, I don't use either one of those programs. But IIRC, both Anvil and FL Studio can read MIDIs. The obvious difference is that Anvil Studio displays MIDIs as sheet music, while FL Studio displays the MIDI on a piano roll. Depending on your preferences, you might prefer using one program over the other.

Tempo values for AMK are different. There's a formula that VilelaBot uses to convert a tempo value from BPM, to a tempo value that's ideally equal in rate on an SPC.

Oh, I understand. And which programme do you use? And thanks for the help.

Sony ACID Pro 7.0, but it's not free. Only get it if you know you'll be using it frequently for setting up the MIDIs. Try the other two programs first.

I see. Well, I will follow your advice. Thanks Giftshaven!

Actually, Anvil Studio can display them both in sheet and piano roll. You just have to change the selection from "Staff" to "Piano Roll"
