After some chatter from me and the music mods as well as about two months since i said there'd be shit done about the featured music stuff oh dear i'm bad at being punctual, it's about time we get this ball rolling.

Music will now be featured in two ways. Firstly, an easy way to get on there is by being featured on the SMWC's YouTube Channel's Greatest Hits section. After that post acknowledging this earlier, I went ahead and featured everything from this year. However, the second way songs will be featured will be through you. Yes, YOU.

This thread is dedicated to nominating music you'd like to see featured, kind of like the hacks section but with a bigger pool of stuff to recommend! Of course, similar restrictions will apply. Once your nomination is in, one of our prestigious music mods will take a look (well, listen to it, technically) and if it's accepted, it'll be Featured!!

Please adhere to these three simple rules when nominating music!
- You may not nominate their own submissions!
- You may only nominate submissions listed as "Song" in the section (that means no Soundtracks, SFX or Misc. entries!)
- You may not nominate anything already featured (duh) or declined (double duh).

Like the featured hacks, it's a good idea to give a brief reason why you think your choice should be featured. Encouraged, but not necessarily required. It'd also be appreciated if you didn't nominate a billion songs at once, but 1-2 in a post should be fine, maybe 3 but that's a hard maximum. With all this said, though, the ball is now in your court. Nominate away!

🥚
1. Final Fantasy II - Main Overworld Theme
https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=14498

One of the best overworld themes. It's also very versatile which is more memorable, even without the required samples.

2. Prince of Moonlight (Custom Song)
https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=9522

Sounds well and the instrument variations are great in my opinion.

About time 👌👌👌

Super Mario 64 - Bob-Omb Battlefield - Easy feature imo, it's a nailed 1:1 port; this alone would justify a feature.
Kirby Super Star Ultra - Masked Dedede - Same reason as above, incredibly spot on 1:1 port and well made.

Welp I thought I had more to nominate. These will go for now.

Metroid Fusion - Sector 4 (AQA) (Underwater Area). An atmospherically ominous port that conveys the isolation in the depths pretty well, and I like how the samples of SMW were used to convey that. Useful for haunted areas, worthy to be featured.

I second the nomination of the Final Fantasy 2 Main Overworld theme for its use of SMW's samples to create a piece that is depressing in tone as in the original game.

[19:43] <StrikeForcer> I also want to say that "because everything on the internet is definitely true!" is a derailment tactic that serves as a shorthand change for "I dont accept the facts"

[19:44] <StrikeForcer> When the information posted clearly is fact-based.
YES! I can choose what should be featured.

Here's one for now: 3D Ultra Pinball: Creep Night - Track 28 The sample quality is incredible, and it's a pretty dramatic sounding song.
SPC Thread
Mario Kart DS - Bowser's Castle - Really good instrumentation, especially the distortion guitar and cymbal.
Donkey Kong Country 2 - Hot-Head Bop - Same here. The fact that the composer managed to recreate the bubbling lava using vanilla samples is impressive.
Sonic 3D Blast - Volcano Valley Act 1 - This sounds nice. I think I actually like it better than the original track.
MegaMari - Cirno Stage
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - Final Hours (No Bells)

RIP Layout 2017 - 2018. You never scored but was beloved.

It's Showtime, baby!

+1 to this. The port is really well made, practically no differences from the original.

Also, I'm nominating Our Mosts Histories, a really nice remix. Really fitting to a dark/spooky vibe.

Nominating Columns III: Column Dive
I really like the extra warmth given from the SNES hardware. Echo is a nice touch as well.

SM64 Bob-Omb Battlefield, while impressive, is not first choice as it sounds like another [impressive] Pinci Port and the N64 hardware limitations resulted in it being my least favorite console music-wise.
I feel like having a short explanation on why some nominations were declined would be better than just silently declining them.

Anyway I'm pretty sure this one was featured on Greatest Hits but for some reason isn't featured.

Also <3
ALSO
i just didn't write them yet is all ya dingus hehe

In the case of Bob-omb Battlefield, declined on the merit that some note timings feel off, slightly off tuning as well as the insert size being rather massive to be considered a feature.

Masked Dedede had a unanimous agreement that the mixing was off, as well as similar tuning issues.

The rest just didn't really do it for us. Very good songs, though, and worthy for nomination.

e: oops how the heck did i miss our mosts histories im very sorry guys please dont hurt me

e2: it was the unsampled version of lonely halls that got greatest hits'd
What will happen with the now featured songs on this list here?

Our Mosts Histories and The Flyin King have been declined on the grounds that while they are both good songs, they don't quite meet the level we are looking for.

they... get featured.
Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody - The Ground's Color is Yellow
I know, I know, it doesn't use uber epic ADSR or samples, but it has a special charm to it.

Stuff belongs here.
Touhou 10.5: Scarlet Weather Rhapsody - The Ground's Color is Yellow has been declined on the merit that, while it is a classic and good (especially for its time), its overly basic sound holds it back from being featured in the present day.
