Tip: Layer 3 backgrounds and tides disappear when you hit a message box, so plan your level around that. For example, you can add a sublevel without layer 3 at the start/midpoint, and include your message there.Not logged in.

Instead of manually hex editing, I decided to put every fix into an .asm file, similar to the Super Mario World fix file. Here it is:

Excluding the boss pointers, I'll add the other fixes mentioned in the current YI ROM Map and will release it if people want it.
The idea is that even if I applied the patch, it works, but after the Nintendo presents screen, it's all black. The black is there for eternity. I had to press Y a few times to trigger the title screen. That's very weird. I think it has to do with the last hex edit.
Is there a way to skip automatically to the title screen after the Nintendo presents logo?
Off-topic: What palette does the Nintendo presents logo use?

You have missread the hex edit. You still need to edit two more bytes at $0FBED1. It should be this:

Speaking of this, I always suggest you to do hex edits this way, so it's easier (so you won't have major problems like you said in the other thread) and you can keep track of them when porting rom if you need.
I rechecked a bit earlier and I noticed a missing hex edit. Still, thanks, Shiny Ninetales.
