So many Kaizos

Why are there so many of them? Where are the fun adventurous hacks that have stories and actual playable levels that don't require you to have the skills of a kaizo TASer? I honestly think at this point there should be a separate section for kaizo hacks so many of us don't have to keep visiting this site in disappointment at all the Kaizo spamming this site now.
You're not wrong. .-.

It's really all most people have the patience to make. People that discover Lunar Magic for the first time realize that they can make crazy hard levels without restriction so they do it. It is getting sorta ridiculous that so many of the hacks uploaded to this site are kaizo, because I'm certainly no good at kaizo. I'm good at a very hard hack without saves but that's about as far as it goes.

I don't really think it's fair to say that kaizos are easy to make. Thought still has to go into them. Although I'm not that great at Kaizo, I'd even argue that they can be more creative than your average hack in ways.

Remember, if you don't want to play kaizo hacks, you can always use the filtering system to find a hack of your choosing. We still have plenty! No one's forcing you to play anything.

I was ready to grab my pitchfork and torch

Seriously though it has gotten out of hand, I'm seeing the same elements in all these games so its getting boring. Yet another Super _____ World with the same graphics and custom sprites pops up at least once a week. Plus some of us arent very good at playing them anyway. A separate section sounds like a good great idea to me.

What? I've just checked, and there's only 128 accepted Kaizo hacks in our hacks section right now, out of 1059 accepted hacks in total. That only about 12% of all accepted hacks on this site.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!

They weren't always allowed on the site, there was a kaizo ban for a while. It might have been a little more saturated otherwise

You can always count on math to put things into perspective. But that includes every hack that's ever been accepted onto this site even before kaizos were allowed.

First and foremost: Making a kaizo hack isn´t easy. Just try making one and see the players reactions. You will see the hole is much deeper than you think.

Second: Its all about the demand. As of now there are lots of people willing to play and make kaizo hacks. And you cant blame people for making what they want. Not saying theres no demand for normal hacks, they usually get twice of the number of downloads of any kaizo hack. But, where are the makers? Honestly, in that regard all i see its a bunch of cancelled projects and a bunch of really shitty hacks submitted from time to time, with only few exceptions.

Funny story. There used to be a kaizo section but it was canned because of disuse. #smrpg{sick}
Note that I never said making a kaizo hack was easy. I said that people new to Lunar Magic see that they can make levels, have the opportunity to make insanely hard levels, and do so.

Whether they are any good is a different story.

Merhaps it just needed the right time and place...?

I believe that what's happening now is very positive for the community as a whole. If you let me say, it's refreshing see many Kaizo hacks for a while. Create one hack need skills, freetime and of course, love. So why them are inferior to normal\hard hacks?

You can't forbid something that you dont like it.
As like myself who make casual hacks, Kaizo creators do what them like best and this, my friend, is the best piece of the cake.

"If you don't like it, don't play it"
Exclusive content and nostalgia!
I have to add that the Kaizo community transcends smwc.

There are several streamers on twitch/youtube that consistently stream kaizo hacks.
There are other communities like the kaizo races for example that get people involved. (there are somewhat big latin/brazilian kaizo communities as well)
And kaizo folks are usually very passionate about it and are always trying to bring something fresh to the table.

All of that contribute for the current state of kaizo hacks.
I think people are missing the point of this thread.

We're not trying to denigrate people who like to play or make kaizo hacks or trying to start a revolution to get kaizo hacking banned from the site (although...). Hats off to those who can effectively make good ones and I've played some hella fun ones. We're just saying that maybe we should make a change to how the non-kaizo and kaizo hacks are submitted and create separate sections again if need be, since they've been more popular in recent months compared to when the old kaizo section was here.

I dont think theres a point on creating a different section.
You can always just click on 'filter results' and just select the difficulty you want.

In the recent year. A large majority has been Kaizo hacks. Don't get me wrong, They're fun to watch being played as TASes but to be honest, that's about it. Other than that's they're such a burden.

Tbh even if kaizo hacks were acceptes before the new section it would still not outnumber the hacks that arent Kaizo. Kaizo appeals to a niche audience people would watch, few will play, and fewer will make. More people would want to make their own marios and stay withun the confines of traditional mario games.

Also i support a new section, but its actually the return of featured hacks section. Kaizo hacks do not need to have their own section and you should use your difficulty search options more.
Modern Redrawn Mario Bros. 1.5 (last update - February 14, 2023, some new bonus frames, tons of minor touchups to various poses)

On Pixel Art Requests: Depends on what it is and if I have the time for it. If its complex and I don't have the time, don't expect me to accept it.

Projects I support:

I think the user is referring to last year or so. Looking for new content. I'd be curious what percentage of this year's hacks are kazio.
