Pokemon blue.

I keep starting to play the original and getting bored soon. So I decided to hack it. I plan on making all 151 catchable. I changed gym line ups and final 4. Not sure how much I will hack it or if I'll even release it.

Cool... I'm not at all a fan of pokemon, But it still sounds like it would be good. Can't wait to see the next update!

Thanks yak, I stopped working on it though. I got to thinking most people probably won't play the same game with minor changes. I could change layouts and stuff, but big N has always kinda watched these Pokemon projects I don't really want an email from lawyers

Well it does have quite a few downloads. Maybe there is a demand for that kinda thing. Course, I don't think I have the hack any more... If I do start over it will basic, I think the kazio looks to hard, it would fall in the middle of kazio and normal. Different starters too. There was a 721 Pokemon hack, but I couldn't reach the authors to use any of their work.

So I've been poking around the dissasmbly of poke. red and blue.
it's really organized well I think I could change pokemon easy.

Yeah I knew how to use disassemblies for a few years now. They really helped me hack SMB1-3 a lot! I was able to change most things I asked about here years ago! It's pretty nice that you found the disassembly of the game your hacking.

Yeah, I like it a lot better. I'm still hoping to find a spriter to to sprite some things.

I added fairy,dark and steel types to the rom.
A couple new starters, a few new moves, to replace crap moves.

I made the line ups on gym leaders, elite 4 and Lance tougher.
Added a few new moves.

I was given permission to use the Pokemon red ++ disassembly, so alot of things I wanted to add is now basically done. Pretty excited to be allowed to use this resource.

I wonder if this is still relevant today?

Nowadays, the fashion for old games is returning and for this reason I think it is relevant, there are many emulators of various kinds of games)))

It's cool that you're trying to make the original Pokemon game more interesting by hacking it. I can totally understand how the game can get repetitive after a while. Making all 151 Pokemon catchable is definitely a big challenge, but it sounds like it could be a lot of fun.
