Banzai Mario World 2: Back from the Dead

Kaizo/PitSuper Mario WorldScreenshots

I am excited to announce that Banzai Mario World 2 is officially back from the dead! I'll be announcing a series of huge changes that I am quite excited for as well. So thanks for stopping by the new Banzai 2 C3 thread!

The GIFs you see above represent a renewed effort to fully redesign every single level from the ground up, focusing on more unique gimmicks and fast paced design. I've worked hard to remove instances of waiting, so I expect that the design quality has greatly improved from the original Banzai Mario World 2 levels. Along with this, I've scrapped numerous levels and focused on developing unique gimmicks with new ASM that is being developed for the hack specifically.

In addition, I began collaborating with Lazy for the overworlds, music, and level design. As we began to work more closely regarding many aspects of the hack, I felt it was for the hack's benefit to ask him to officially join the project.

Banzai Mario World 2 will also introduce guest levels. There will be 4-5 guest levels in total, designed by some of your favorite Kaizo hackers in the community! (to clarify, most of these have been completed already)

Along with revamped level design, the hack will also focus greatly on tons of brand new music, open-ended overworlds, and more. Without spoiling much, I want Banzai Mario World 2 to be a very unique experience.

While Banzai Mario World 2 is not ready for release, it's still time to get excited. The hack has made better progress recently than ever, and you'll be able to play the hack before too long. Thanks for stopping by!
give me a level!
Was worthy stopping by! I knew that you'd redesign your levels, but I didn't know that they would change this drastically. I freaking love the new gimmicks you crafted your levels with, this is appreciated! Impatiently waiting for the full release!
I have a Discord server as well! (by joining, you agree to the rules)

Basically, I believe in peace and bashing two bricks together.

Holy moly, those setups are amazing! All this news is very exciting, too. Especially about the new direction that Banzai 2 is taking, which I positively approve of. Can't wait to play it!
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?
Holy shit. I didn't know you would make such a drastic change either. Feels like an entirely different hack altogether going in the right direction.
I really love the premise! Everything is pretty clever and fascinating, and the yoshi concept is what amazed me the most.

And yes I want a level please!
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
oh my goshness

Ah, so Banzai Mario World 2 is back in development? That's really good- especially since the level design shown in the GIF's here are really good. I really like the one with the Red Yoshi and P-Balloons; it's a mechanic I've never seen before, and it's really cool. Excited to see this hack continue being developed!

I'm very excited for this! Banzai Mario WOrld was fun but a lot of the gimmicks slowed the gameplay down for no reason, so I'm glad you've dropped stuff like that for the sequel.

More people need to use weird non-vanilla gimmicks in their kaizo hacks anyway >:C
I really like how fast paced these levels are in the preview video's, amazing work as always. #smw{:TUP:}

Yo, you sayin' i ain't be your favourite Kaizo Hacker? #smrpg{roar}

Jokes aside, I'm excited this makes progress eventually again. Personally i think it's always difficult to make good choconilla kaizo levels, since the new gimmicks must be well implemented, so the player won't be overexerted by it. In your case all the customisations seem to be well applied and therefore i think Banzai Mario World 2 is going to be a great experience for anyone who loves playing Kaizo: Light Hacks.

The fact that the great level designer Lazy joined your hack surely improves it a lot, too. Your CLDC Level last year has been gouda already and i expect the same from Banzai 2! I'll certainly stay tuned for its final release! #smw{:TUP:}

Thanks for the nice replies, everyone! I've been having a great time working with Gbreeze and making Ridiculous Shit for this hack. We'll try to get this done as soon as possible.
Wow, is it bump time already? Thanks so much for all the kind feedback everyone! I greatly appreciate the continued interest in this hack, it's definitely encouraging. I am really looking forward to finishing this hack with Lazy and releasing it for all of you. Thanks again for all the replies!

What i've been wondering about is, if you need any beta-testers? Actually i can imagine there are a wild bunch of people already, which want to test this hack (i wouldn't be surprised, considering how famous this hack already is). Perhaps you or Lazy want to contact me about that? I just thought, i should at least put this "offer" somewhere.

Agreed, kaizo hacks with custom features are Good Stuff.

I will never play this hack - I need what sanity I have left - but you can bet money I'll be watching the inevitable speedrun(s) it'll get when it's done. I wish I were more well-versed in kaizo design so that I could give you some more nuanced feedback, but I'm afraid you'll have to settle for a "Keep up the great work!"
