Tip: Switch palace switches normally disappear if you replay the level. However, if you insert them as direct Map16 and use the hex-edit at $00EEB2 in the ROM map, you can replay the level without a problem.Not logged in.

This is pretty cool. It kinda reminds of DKC3's stage, which you had to pass in a certain time, but your version seems to be executed much better, since you have various options to gain speed / your powerup (i assume this kinda is a permanent powerup) allows various possibilities of dodging enemies.

It could be interesting already to apply this to an original SMW-rom (for speedrunners at least). However, since you annouce a playable will come in 1-2 years, you plan to do custom levels?

This is pretty good! There have been other speedrun hacks applied to the original game or just few modified hacks, but this one takes the cake.
Do you have any idea of how many custom levels it will have if you plan to make any?

From the only GIF here, this hack defiantly appears to still be a work in progress. Though the idea of a speed-based hack is really interesting and fun! Not many hacks focus on speedrunning, so this will be very fun for speedrunners once finished!

I agree with the others, this looks really fun to play, even in a vanilla level. That's why I can't wait to see what levels you'll design around these new gameplay features you created!

Well now, I originally wanted to add some details in a day or two, but then life did that thing life does. So it goes:


"Take control of Rainier "Reindeer" Graemes Jr. as he runs, jumps and boosts his way across [##] action-packed levels!"


This project came to be after scraping ASM off of various other projects, smashing it together and cranking up all the speed values. The result was a total blast, and I just had to polish it up into something share-worthy. There's no point in explaining the mechanics now, suffice it to say that it's weirdly technical for how goofy a thing this is.

You bet! Truth be told, DONUT PLAINS 1 is one of maybe three vanilla levels that aren't garbage to play through like this; custom levels are all but a necessity.
