As you might have seen in my "Rykon-V73's Yoshi's Island patch" thread, I said I'll release a demo of my YI hack. I started designing levels after I left University. There are 5 levels total, but I'm happy with what I got.
The name of the hack is this one (might changed it if other have better ideas):

Comeback towards Yoshi's Island

After Yoshi saved baby Mario and put him in a safe spot, he finds out that baby Luigi was kidnapped by Kamek and then the baby was sent to King Bowser. Will Yoshi save baby Luigi, unite him with baby Mario and send him to his parents? (I know, some story.)

I'll change the title in the next demo. University is kind of hard, so I'll change things, when I have the time.
Enough of that, I'll show screenshot of every level I made. I hope they're ok:

Level 1:

The beginning of the level.

A few collectibles. I wonder if I can enter the pipe marked by 2 coins.

Onward with the level and a collectible behind.

Level 2:

This level takes place in the skies.

You'll also find spinning logs, as said in the level icon.

More progress in the second area of the level.

Level 3:

I've seen this setup before.

This puzzle is easy.

A giant egg? That's a first. Maybe it's used for something.

Level 4:

While it doesn't show the gimmick, you'll also have to deal wih Big Blarrgs.

And their smaller versions, too.

A bonus room. Something important might be here.

Level 5:

Thanks to Shiny Ninetales, I used SPASM to change the color of the grey rocks to green.

Yoshi is thinking of trying to enter one of those pipes.

The 2nd section of the level has the BG changed to green, too. Also, an easy puzzle to progress.

And what demo wouldn't be a demo, without a download link.

I hope this demo satisfies you.

Sorry for the late reply, was about to reply but the C3 Stream came in. Whatever.

Glad to see you are experimenting more with YI hacking, it was a fun demo to play overall. The design and tileset combinations fits well, and levels are okay (though I think 1-3's "puzzle" was so easy and kinda obvious, even for a first world). The graphics were also nice too (including the custom icons), good job on that.

There are details too, mostly of them due to camera shifting, where sometimes it goes really weird or abrupt (notable examples are here, here, here, and here). I also felt the music was there just for the sake of having custom music, not a strict bad thing, but at least it gives a fresh air to the YI music.
There's some fixing to do. If I do have the time, you'll see those fixes possibly in the next demo. I do need the inspiration, you know.

Don't worry, I know, motivation is very volatile, especially in YI which is not that "easy" to hack as SMW. The trick is being constant, doing small things daily if possible, just for not lose the rhythm. I'm glad my help was useful to you, I wish the best luck with this.
I finished drawing 2 things. I would like to know:

Above, you see a mechanilift wannabe. The difference is that it has a YI-styled arrow. And:

I wanted the icon to resemble the full moon. The other icons are drawn normally. Should I make a full moon, without those "decorations" (the ground that I drew)?

Still, the other thing that bothers me the hardest is porting. I know the YI Level Tool 1.2 is great, but now I have a problem regarding it. If I transfer levels using it, it removes the header. Fine, I used NSRT Frontend to add the header. Sometimes, the ROM crashes, other times, the ROM works fine, but if I edit a level and save it using Golden Egg, the ROM crashes.

I didn't know someone worked on a YI hack.
That's great news!
Looking forward to further progress, keep up the good work. #tb{:]}
Thanks. I forgot to mention to play the hack on a (U) v 1.0. version of the ROM.
