After a long time away from SMW Hacking, I came up with the desire to recreate the first hack in the series 'Mario vs Sonic.exe', but with improvements and enhancements. And then there're the video of a demo that I did of the rebuild. Do not make available the download link yet,because still I plan to add more improvements, and resolve a few bugs that still appears in the demo. But soon I will release it on the site.

Progress: 15%

P. S.: The first head is still in the planning =D

Even if it has been a while, i still have some memories about Mario vs. Sonic.exe - sadly mostly bad ones. Therefore i was interested to see, if/how you improved in your remake.

You state that only 15% are done so far, so i'll just mention the roughest "flaws" (or what i'd personally define as flaw).

1.) First of all, your palette is still too red for me. It wasn't neccessarily eye-searing, but except for the castle level, aesthetically the levels were quite boring to look at due to being so monochromatic.

2.) The music in the 3rd level is quite unfitting imo. The level is "dark and scary", but the music is more "calm and pleasant". There are 2000+ ports in smwc's music section. I'm sure you could find something better.

3.) Using so many boo-rings in the castle level is a bit tiring, too (since oyu need to wait a lot). There's a boo-ring modification-tool on smwc (or sprite or patch, i don't know since i didn't use it so far). Perhaps you could create more interesting boo-rings, using that? Or you scratch them entirely and look for other sprites, which could be more interesting obstacles.

4.) Speaking about the castle-level: You should inform the player in advance that you need to collect 4 yoshi-coins there. Because if the player gets to the "control-blocks" and can't pass, he's forced to backtrack (which is anything but cool design)

These are the 4 main flaws i discovered. I hope i didn't sound too harsh, but if you want to improve, i want to give you the respective feedback, how you could actually improve this hack a lot (in my opinion). To say something positive though, i'm glad that you decided to work on this again and to remaster it. I just hope you are open to feedback, too, so this hack can be really called remastered.

Good luck with it! #smw{:peace:}

Yes, I'm thinking about it even, I don't have to necessarily turn everything into the red, I'm going to adjust some palettes!

As I said earlier, I want to change some songs that have not fallen to the style of the hack/level.

Thank you for the alert! I'm going to use another sprite in place!!

I thought that this could happen again, so I put a message box at the start of the castle, to avoid these unforeseen #tb{^V^}

I intend to include many improvements and new features in this remake. Some of them:

-HDMA
-Jumpscares
-Heads a well-planned (Providing helpers heheh)

-Story well-told

For "Pipe Cave... or No!" I'd lowered the speed of the Banzai Bills and Rexes since they spawn quick, giving you little to no time to react.

My intention is to increase the speed of them even, not to let the monsters too easy to defeat. heheh #tb{^V^}

Good title screen. The "S" in "Sonic" looks weird. It's like a snake, instead of an "S".

The music in the castle sounds really upbeat. It's dissonant to an almost hilarious degree.

Oh, so this nice creepy-pasta hack is being redone? I remember it, from the time I've known you.

My concern is the OW palette: I'm not very fond of it, though it indeed matches the theme of the hack. It's my opinion, nothing more.
