Would something like this be a thing that coders are willing to implement on the site? Because there appears to be some interest in it.
Yeah, there really should be an indication that shows that it's a user's birthday somewhere. A while ago, I had a similar idea in mind, but with a different way of indicating when it's someone's birthday. I noticed that when it's someone's birthday, a cake icon appears next to their name in the birthday thread. I thought perhaps that cake icon could be next to the username everywhere for the one day (similar to the donor coin icon), and not just shown in that thread.

I agree 100% with this suggestion.
As a possible alternative idea, when it's a user's birthday, that user could have a rainbow username color for the day.
Both ideas sounds good to me (Gifty's and Luigi-San's), even better if both of them were applied. Some place in the main page wouldn't hurt too I think (in Fortaleza Reznor for example, at the bottom of the main page there is announced the current birthday and the incoming ones)

The Birthday Thread was enough and good back then, but I think nowadays it's kinda obsolete.

Considering that this is more of a site feature suggestion, I'm going to move this over to Issue Tracker so Telinc can take a look at it.

Edit: Oh, and I think some kind of automatic birthday recognition would be a nice addition to the site so count me as +1 Yes vote.
I think a rainbow name color would be overkill and/or potentially confusing. A cake icon sounds nice though!

Rainbow names as they currently are implemented wouldn't really work with this idea either, since technically each username color is still only 1 solid color, it's just a different color for each username. AFAIK Kieran has veto'd all proposals to bring back the gradient names of old, so we can't just make the names proper rainbows.

That said, I support the idea of a small cake icon next to the username.

It still has its purpose, imo. It's the place to wish others Happy Birthday, there not being any other place to do so, afaik.
Also, coloring the current day on the first post there wouldn't be bad. But I hope it won't have to be too much work...

A cake icon sounds cute, I'd like it.

C'mon, man, I try my best.

Any reason why? Was this perhaps gonna be a nuisance to implement the code?

Also, I too am all in for the cake icon!
I have a Discord server as well!

Basically, I believe in peace and bashing two bricks together.
Also going to agree with this suggestion. I'll try to get it implement by Saturday. I'll go for a cake icon which shows the user's age on hover if they've specified a year. Given the date format that user birthdays are stored in, I doubt this would be too complicated to add.

Edit: Unrelated complications will likely prevent me from working on this or any other issues for a couple of days.

Not at all, but he vetoes most changes related to the formatting of usernames - this is why inactive users don't have italic names anymore. Whenever I confront him about it, he says it's for consistency's sake because a differently formatted name doesn't give more information about the user. Whether I disagree with that is a different matter, but I don't want to do anything Kieran doesn't want me to. Besides, I personally don't support rainbow names for birthdays, anyway.
This is a long overdue addition in my opinion. It should really spruce things up around here a little bit!
Not to mention it may also give the Birthday thread a little more life. #smrpg{mlem}

Three cheers for Telinc for being willing to carry this forward!
I've now implemented this feature as promised. Apologies for the delay; as I said in my previous post, there were unexpected circumstances which prevented me from working on issues.

The issue is now resolved. If nobody voices complaints in the next few days, it'll be closed.
