#121: Ability to override some visual settings with URL parameters

Link Thread Closed

New FeatureResolved

I've been requesting this in staff channels for quite a while now, but I don't feel like there's any reason to keep this private.

I'd really like the ability to override some page display parameters, such as posts per page for threads, or threads per page for forums, via URL parameters. This would allow viewing specific forums or threads with more posts/page than usual when needed without the cumbersome "go to edit profile - locate the right setting - edit & save - reload" (and the reverse after you're done!) every time. Also if this was done for themes, it could allow easier previewing of them.

Tip:
Wouldn't mind seeing the same myself honestly, although it would need to have pagination automatically contain the link parameters, but it shouldn't be too hard. Just an easy &pp=100 or what have you, and unsetting it is as simple as removing it manually or leaving a place that has pages.

Not entirely sure how it'd work but it wouldn't hurt.

Or perhaps one thing could be a quick dropdown to automatically change it without going to edit profile. This seems less hackish honestly.

My thoughts on the matter.

Done. You can now override the posts per page, threads per page, and the scheme by using GET parameters (postsperpage, threadsperpage, and scheme, respectively).
