Description: | My first midi, My first Remix of a midi and my first Smw song wow, it's my first time trying new things and succeeding! Use in a ghost house or a spooky forest. |
There's issues with the sound quality and the .txt which warrant a rejection here. Let's start with the .txt:
1. There are unneeded loops [] being added to parts of your MML. You only ever need to use this to repeat certain notes. You have some loops, but they aren't being repeated at all. You can remove the loop [] for these instances to save bytes.
2. On the subject of saving bytes, you have this in #0:
Code
[a+9>d+8<b4g4a+8>d+8<b8g2]2 [a+9>d+8<b4g4a+8>d+8<b8g2]2 [a+9>d+8<b4g4a+8>d+8<b8g2] [a+9>d+8<b4g4a+8>d+8<b8g2]
These are all the same line, and only some repeat and some don't. This is a waste of bytes to your insert size.
Code
[a+9>d+8<b4g4a+8>d+8<b8g2]6
This is the same set of notes as what's shown above, but optimized to reduce your song's insert size. It's rather easy to spot these the more you practice this. I'll link you to this part of Wakana's tutorial for more methods of looping and optimization.
3. The note lengths you are using aren't very practical. I'm spotting a+9s and g5s in your .txt which doesn't really work well. This isn't really a rejection reason, but I highly recommend sticking to 1s, 2s, 4s, 8s, 16, etc. so that there's no issues such as desyncs when working with MML in the future.
Now on to how this song sounds:
4. Sorry, but this song is too empty. All 3 of your channels play notes all at the same exact time, and they're all nearly the same note throughout the entire song. I feel like the piano as the only instrument in this song can work if but you should put in more chords to make this sound more filled.
5. The notation is rather incoherent. I guess another way of saying this is that the song mathematically makes no sense. I can't really give advice for how to go about fixing this, but I'd listen to more originals to get a better understanding of how timings and keys work.
6. Lastly, I'd tinker with echo commands. Something to consider to keep the song from sounding really bland. If it's meant to be spooky, give it some fitting echo parameters.
This should be all. Good luck on improving this!
