both were actually made for
this thread but i may aswell release their source
SMW Highland is a version of SMW where a lot of things about sprites is randomized. Sadly, the source code for it was never released. But I disassembled it, so now you could theoretically apply it to any hack.
Patch download link. Note that the original highland had the
FastROM patch applied (it used the old, separate version, but the LM-integrated version should work fine too), probably to reduce lag, but it appears to work fine without it too. It also had the
Title Screen Solution (Reset.asm) applied, which is strongly recommended. Also note that it's not SA-1 compatible. It also hijacks the status bar routine so it may be incompatible with other old patches or something. Also, this disassembly has like 0 documentation (as you can tell, routine names are alphabetical, and all sublabels use AR's disassembly names because i was too lazy to rename them), but if anyone wants to reverse engineer it more then you're welcome to.
Also it uses the free space at the end of various banks, so watch out for that too
The
random munchers patch will randomly convert tiles near mario to, well, munchers. No tiles are converted right under mario, nor are any tiles converted while you're standing still. It can be used as either a standalone patch or an uberasm GM14 code (uberasm is untested though), just set the first define correctly. The
Better RNG patch is recommended too. Note that this is not compatible with SA-1, nor the LM3 extended levels.
If i find time, I'll try to update both of these to add proper SA-1/LM3 support (though doing that to the highland patch is going to be annoying...)
