Best SMB2 character to use?

(I'm talking about the worldwide SMB2... I know Mario > Luigi in The Lost Levels lmao)
Since I'm on vacation and can't do a thing about SMW romhacking/Minecraft cuz my computer isn't a laptop, I am having fun with NES games (Nintendo Switch Online)... I'm playing Super Mario Bros 2 (A.K.A. Super Mario Bros USA in japan) and want to make a rewind-less run of the game with ONLY one character. I know each character's mechanics being :
- Mario is the master of none
- Luigi is a moonman, but weaker than Mario and not as fast
- Toad is 2fast4me and has pretty much Hulk's strength, but doesn't jump high
- Peach is like Mario, but worse + with float jump
With which character should I finish the game first? (Counting that I might do it with both warpless and with warps)
RIP my friend's Ridley, he dropped it cuz I combo'd him a bit tol much as Mario.

I think Peach hands down. Even if Luigi can jump higher, the float is just better when Peach can just jump off of a slightly higher platform to equal to one of Luigi's jumps while floating.
I beaten the game with Peach using warps... I'm doing it with Luigi rn, so... Who's better? Toad or Mario?

I always use Luigi, and maybe Peach. I don't know why. I just do.
Peach
Peach mainly because she can float and stuff. But sometimes toad in places like level 3-1 where I know I can take up the coins for the bonus roulette game.

I don't think I had much of a preference. I really liked Peach because of her float ability, and for that old trick of abusing it to skip over most of the level in the first world. Hardly a unique answer, but there's a good reason why it's the most popular one.

Luigi is kind of my favorite when it come to this game but I normally try to use all characters to get that 100% screen.
It depends. Are you speedrunning or playing for 100% completion?

If 100% completion, I cannot say. Some levels, some characters are better than others. Luigi can trivialize vertical levels, Peach makes levels with a lot of death pits look like a joke, and Toad makes the desert levels actually not unbearably painful to play through. (god help you if you're Luigi or Peach in this segment)

For speedrunning? Peach, easily.
