We at SMWCentral are looking to introduce a brand new Twitch channel for the community.
If you'd like to get a notification when we start our first stream, you can follow us here on Twitch.

The channel will be used for a wide variety of content, one of these things being casual playthroughs of ROM hacks. Before we start going through with our plans, and telling you what kind of content we plan on delivering, we're looking for feedback coming from you.

Multiple streamers, either simultaneously or just as a troupe, would be grand. It would be smart to run the gamut of skilled players so that lots of hacks could be enjoyed. If it's just a few together at the same time, then that's at least good for dead air. Never cared much for facecams though - it's something I've only ever tolerated at best, from my point of view.

What would your idea of non-ROM stuff to stream be? Just some Mario game every now and then?

Anything that isn't ROM hacking content, really. It'd just be games that we all play every now and then without mods, ranging from SNES to Switch.

i think that facecams can really add to the experience, as you get to see the streamers' reactions, especially if they got kaizo'd or trolled really well.

By the way, there was an option for "Radio Streams" in the poll before, but we removed it upon learning that radio/music streams are generally banned on twitch unless you're broadcasting music you created and own. No sense in continuing to let people vote for an option we're not allowed to pursue. So we're not really going to do that, but there is the chance we can use custom music during stream intros/outros/breaks or something like that.

edit: Just noticed Dan edited this same thing into his first post, but I'll leave this here in case someone didn't see it there.

Would random music that was submitted to the site work at all, or would even those ports be a problem?

We'd have to investigate it further, but probably not, especially if it's ports of existing game music. If it were fully original compositions then maybe, but the safest option is to probably limit music usage to stream intros, outros, breaks, and transitions. Since those aren't the primary purpose of the stream, we could run any music compositions during them.
