SMWCentral just had its first official Twitch stream and it was a whopping success!

For some statistical insight: The stream lasted for about two hours and 30 minutes, had a total viewer count of 76 with an average of 49 watching, 314 unique viewers with 81 unique chatters. 522 live views, 72 new followers and a total of 9 unique clips!

First of all, thank you so much for coming out to our first live stream! Thanks to the positive reaction we know we've made the right choice starting up this channel.

We'd all like to know what you thought of the stream. Do you think it was good, do you think it was lame? Any things to look out for next time? Any tips, suggestions, things to keep out of the next stream, etc?
We want you to post your opinions, and this thread is meant for you to do exactly that, so please let us know in all honesty what you think and what we could potentially do better!

We're already going to be adding some features and making general changes to make the experience on the stream even better, some of these being:
- A chat bot
- A proper voting system for games to play
- A fixed schedule
- More streamers
- Fancier alerts (follows, hosts, etc)
- A BRB screen
Well it was p interesting to say the least.

Any suggestions I have at the moment is towards like, if you are doing a schedule I do think a lot of the time should be dedicated to be showing of SMW hacks hosted on here, as sometimes there are hacks out there that could be played and critiqued that do get overlooked, as there are hidden gems in the section, not to mention how I do think it can greatly help with playing through hacks, demos or otherwise being released at C3.

I would also suggest having times where you do a resource showcase of the various graphics, music, and ASM files that SMWC hosts to encourage people to use them in creative ways for their levels.

You can also use the twitch channel to also encourage playing through official contest entries if you are up to that.

Honestly that's all I have to say.

On Pixel Art Requests: I generally do not accept work unless I either have the time, if I see your project worth my time to contribute towards, and that is usually me doing the approaching to you on that.
-I also do not accept speculative work as I do have various art I made on-hand with me.
-I am more receptive to equivalent exchange of resources in which case, you can DM me wherever I have an active presence on for the details.
-Other times I'm availible for your project is C3 request threads I may run.

The stream went well I think. Got a bit of a taste of some things to come and with some luck, we can definitely get this to become something really fun.

Scheduling is going to be hard to pinpoint and it will likely differ streamer to streamer, and figuring out when is the best time for everyone.

Hopefully we can work out some of the small things by next time, but I couldn't really point out anything that could make it better that hasn't already been said here or otherwise. Really looking forward to the next one!

This thread hasn't been used much, but @ the recent charity stream:

Stream was great overall, and clearly a successful charity event! One thing I do want to note was that I was watching with some other non-SMWC people, and at some point between "events" some of them were wondering if their stream crashed - the "setting up for next event" screen had no sound and nothing was moving. If there's a charity stream or other marathon-style stream similar to this one, might be worth doing something with that screen, maybe just adding some background music or a few animated parts.

That's definitely a fair point to bring up. The reason there was no sound was because I didn't have time in the last days of planning to figure out an appropriate virtual audio cables setup that would allow music to go through without having the voices I was hearing in setup also coming through. Silence wasn't the best option, but it was the only real option I had at the time. That said, a small animation is a much simpler idea and I'm surprised I didn't think to put anything there, like even just a simple animating muncher. I'll definitely keep this in mind if we do another charity stream in the future! Glad you enjoyed it.
Are you using OBS? You can add an MP3 or similar as a media source and just mute your actual mic and all that.
I'll have to look into that. Right now the music we usually play comes through foobar2000 and its .spc plugin.
