What is your favorite difficulty in hacks?

What difficulty you like the most?

You can also write down if you ONLY play that difficulty.

Most of the time I play Kaizo Hard because I need something that challenges me.

i like playing hard and very hard hacks mostly, they can offer fun and reasonable challenge. (my favorite examples: JUMP1/2 and O Ninja Negro)
Generally I like playing normal/medium hacks cause I dont hate myself...
I just like levels that allow you to just run through them without te trying to kill you every 5 seconds.
I like hacks which are just a tiny bit harder than the actual SMW.
So I'm more of a normal-hard player.
I like hard hacks too if the hack dont get frustrating with lack of checkpoints and extra lives from the designers part.
I'm a medium-hard guy myself. My hack selections tend to be from Easy to Hard depending on how completed the hack is.

Arvis: Emperor of Flame
Extraordinaire of Roasting Blue-Haired Lords

What's your gambit?
Medium, and I won't play anything above it.
I refuse to play anything except for easy and pit
I honestly thought the kind of difficulty was of zero importance to me a few years ago, but I've been enjoying myself with medium to hard hacks as of lately [not counting the obvious kaizo] this time around. Of course that's only if they are challenging enough.
Hard, bc I find those hacks to be emblematic of what I look for not only in SMW since I beat SMW a few times and would like a fun challenge that has fair difficulty and gimmick memorability... also because that same challenge to me I would have the satisfaction of earning my victory through my own skill at the game, which to me is the point of video games and why they exist.

On Pixel Art Requests: I generally do not accept free work unless I either have the time, if I see your project worth my time to contribute towards, and that is usually me doing the approaching to you on that second part. I do not accept speculative work as I do have various art I made on-hand with me. I am more receptive to paid work and equivalent exchange of resources (trades) in which case, you can DM me wherever I have an active presence on for the details and we can work something out. If not, then don't DM unless absolutely necessary.

Hard if done right.

Not Kaizo or anything that is too tedious but something that challenges me and makes me think outside the box.
It's hard to find and I can only think of few select examples.
jump half difficulty

Very very very shortly, this drab, workaday world and everything in it will be changed forever! Follow us into the golden country, into the empire of the senseless!
Hard, but fair.

Kaizo and up, I like watching, but that's too much a test of endurance for me to have fun playing.

SMWC members who have helped make Ganymede the hack I want it to be
I can play every difficulty, but I like kaizo: light most. I love challenges and kaizo tricks. Kaizo: light is easy enough to be beaten without any tools and whenever I want a real challenge without savestate abuse, there's nothing better than kaizo: light hacks so long as they're done right.
Why do America and the rest of the world have to use different 7 Up logos?

Tag (nonsense) was not closed.
In my younger days when I had more time and didn't mind savescumming if I felt like it, I'd play on any difficulty, including the hardest ones. More recently however, I have to be a basic bitch and go with the easy/medium difficulties simply because it's rare I have the patience anymore for something too much more difficult than that.

I only spend a short period of time per day browsing the forums, so DM me on Discord if you want to talk.

Currently doing a walkthrough of all the VLDC11 levels, in order of ranking. Reviews of each level are included in the comments!
I play hacks to wind down and relax these days, so if it can't be beaten by a literal toddler, I hate it and delete it immediately.

i actually liked jump 1/2 a lot though and that was erring on the harder side near the end, so i guess if you don't absolutely blow ass at designing levels, then i'd fall under "hard".
Although I don't play that many hacks, I have a preference on more a moderate difficulty (with the one or another challange sprinkled on it) as similar to S.N.N., I use them to relax and hard hacks only when I feel like it (e.g. if the level design is good).
Sometimes, a high difficulty (generally very hard but also hard sometimes) can lead to a frustration (artificual difficulty comes to my mind) so that beating a (very) hard level doesn't give you a sense of acomplishment and more like that the chaos is over. Of course, if done right, like you have an awesome boss battle as a prize, then you're more likely to have the former feeling but please, don't make hacks more difficult than they should be!

Okay, my layout looks ugly.
Hard through Kaizo light. Hard provide the challenge I want for an easy sit down experience with the game holding my hand. And i am not good enough yet to play the harder kazio hacks. I just found out about rom hacks a month or so ago, so I'm sure that will change in time :P
i like to play hard and very hard

not your average post footer
Easy, normal, Kaizo medium. Is it weird that I can beat Cuphead yet regular hard hacks in general give me trouble?

Legacy custom music

How am I so creative? I think taking walks might have something to do with it.
Every single level I will ever make in SMM2 will be easier than Ultra Necrozma.
