What do I need to be an Advanded SMW hacker?

What do I need to know to be an Advanded SMW hacker?

It is in the right place, isn't it?
Well, you need to be able to make good levels. ASM is the next step. This allows you to create custom blocks and sprites. Hex is useful for tweaking things like Mario's jump value. HDMA/DMA also helps. Anyway, was this the appropriate fourm? I think there are a few other fora that this could be in.... Also, if this is a refrence to the forum, ASM, Hex, HDMA or DMA are the questions you ask there. Anything about graphics troubles, Lunar Magic troubles that don't involve ASM and anything else that isn't in the F.A.Q.s or manual that doesn't involve Hex, ASM, HDMA or DMA goes into the Basic Hacking forum. n00b Hacking is for anything that you haven't checked either the F.A.Q. or manual for.
NOTE: Asking about how/where to learn ASM, Hex, HDMA or DMA doesn't go into the Advanced Hacking forum. That doesn't belong anywhere.
0_0' thanks, there will surely be a great time before I become an Advanced SMW hacker
You also need brains, time, and patience. At first, Advanced stuff look difficult but you will get used over time, like I did.
My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)
Practice and Patience. 99% of advanced hacking can be achieved with enough practice.

I really can't tell you more than that.
I made a standalone game once, look for Seabug Stampede on Google Play.
oh, and to start of learning ASM, I suggest Schwa's tut.
It's stickied in the Advanced hacking forum.

it's easy for newbs to understand, and is a great way to start.
Also, it depends on what you mean by "advanced". For example... you could know next to nothing about ASM, but be a master GFX maker, or be good at making music or designing levels. It really depends on your style of hacking. There's no single definition of "advanced", for people express their talents in different ways.
A Dictionary.

First of all, things that are advanced may become less advanced over time. Two ways:

First one:
A modification may start out as an xkas patch, where you have to know ASM to use it. Then the author may turn it into a tool based modification, which makes it so easy a n00b could use it.

Second one:
First, something may seem completely friggin hard, and only a really small group of people know how to use it. Then someone that doesn't know how to use it asks someone in the small group who does, and learns how to use it. The small group expands to a medium sized one. Someone in the medium sized group writes an easy to understand tutorial, and it gets stickied in the forum. Now almost everyone knows.

Secondly and finally, sometimes you need to read things over and over to get the hang of them. Practice doesn't make perfect, but it can sometimes be pretty close.
