Tip: You can use the SMW Customizer to edit tons of misc. features in SMW, including the speed of Bullet Bills, how many points a 3-UP moon gives you, and more!
As you recall, last June we ran a nifty little music contest called Super Famicompo - it invited anyo ne from anywhere who could make SNES music to pop in and pump out as many SPCs as they wanted within three categories (Cover, Original and Challenge) to enter and win nifty prizes and trophies. Of course, that left an old contest behind, one that's been around for 11 years...
Super Famicompo was given a test run as a successor to our music contest, SMW Central Idol, and it met our expectations pretty well in two of its categories. Thanks to the new ruleset and more free and open nature of submitting content, the Cover and Original challenges got several more entries and unique participants than most, if not all previous Idols got in their runs!
So with that said, SMW Central Idol is officially being retired, with Super Famicompo being our big music contest going forward. Additionally, the next Super Famicompo will run using the Covers and Originals category (though things may be liable to change, but as of right now this is the current plan).
But some of you might be wondering, "but what about the challenge category? Surely, without fun and unique challenges our flagship music contests will be absolutely boring!" To which I say, "isn't that what 72hoSPC is for?" As you may be aware, 72hoSPC more or less fills the niche for the challenge portions of our contests. Look forward to seeing those become slightly more frequent come 2020! So, with that all said...
72hoSPC #5 is happening this weekend, and will be hosted by bebn legg! Please look forward to Friday, November 22nd, at 6 PM EST for more information regarding the challenge.
That's all for now! Please don't make fun of me too much in your responses for sounding so overly dramatic about music contests!
It would be cool if going forward Super Famicompo had a multiple rounds system like idol did, or at the very least really unique challenges (like a few years ago when people had to use a certain amount of Last Bible 3 samples) rather than trying to make crappy samples sound good like the last 72hoSPC.
