......Entry 1...... ----Creativity-------- -I like the idea of the chandelier. -I suppose I can see a front, inside, and back kind of division, but it's a bit of a stretch. The house itself feels very empty because there's only a lamp. 02/20 ----Crafting---------- -I'm not really sure what most of the stuff I'm looking at is, except for the chandelier in screenshot 2. It still looks a little awkward though, possibly because of the palette, and maybe the cutoff at the edges. -The Banzai Bill at the end is a nice touch, but I'm not sure the choice of tiles is the best. The solid grey clashes with the detail that the Bill Blasters, Turn Block, and ON/OFF Blocks have, and the very blocky edges don't look great, at least considering the zoomed-in scale at which your entry is. -Everything else just feels like random pipes and bushes, without much form. 04/20 ----Theme Adherence--- -The chandelier fits in well with the house theme. Other than that, I don't get much of a living space vibe. 02/10 Overall score: 08/50 ......Entry 2...... ----Creativity-------- -The idea of the block collection is nice. -The little cage for bombn legg is nice, but I feel like it could've looked better using other tiles, with some Map16 trickery perhaps, to distinguish it from the floor. -The wide diagonal pipe is a neat touch, but it suffers from lots of cutoff with the shading. Likewise, the wide pipe under the arch is nice too, but it looks a little lumpy in execution. -I'm not sure what the cave screenshot is supposed to represent. -The living space itself feels very basic. It's just a square outline and that's it. 05/20 ----Crafting---------- -Almost all of the lop layer of ground suffers from some awkward cutoff. -The block collection itself feels slightly messy since it's at the top of the screen. -The cave screenshot feels empty. -The bit of grey in front of the house as a welcome mat is nice, though it does cut off with the cement block. -The Map16 shenanigans to give the blocks different eyes and such mostly works, though a few of them look a little awkward. My favourite is the 3 block that comes from the ? block. 05/20 ----Theme Adherence--- -I can recognize that the cement block structure is a house, even if it's a little empty. 04/10 Overall score: 14/50 ......Entry 3...... ----Creativity-------- -This is absolutely gorgeous! The palette and all the graphics blend together really well. -The mix of tilesets here is really nice, and you gave overworld graphics som nice usage too! -You've thought of everything: there's a front yard with a mailbox, a balcony, a picture of a Bullet Bill above the bed, a potted Piranha Plant, the Mega Mole underground. I'm just listing everything that catches my eye but wow, there's a really beautiful attention to detail! 20/20 ----Crafting---------- -The use of line guides is really clever and versatile too, everything from the blueprints to the beanbag chair dent to the TV wire. -So many graphics are cleverly repurposed: using the coin as a doorknob, for example, or the line guide engine thing as a router, wow! -I'm surprised you've managed to make all of these things fit together so nicely. The only little issues I can find are stray pixels here and there, and then the shelf Goomba's red sticking out a bit. Other than that, this is gorgeous and seamless! 20/20 ----Theme Adherence--- -It's clearly a house, and a nice one at that. It even fits in thematically with the blueprints and note. 10/10 Overall score: 50/50 ......Entry 4...... ----Creativity-------- -The nighttime desert theme is a really nice touch, and I think it works very well! The usage of the Star World moon is very cute! -Nice job with your choice of palettes and graphics. At first glance, it really felt like there was ExGFX in here. -I like the presence of all the plants, it's a nice little theme going on. -As much as I like the overall theme that's going on, the building feels somewhat like a long, generic hallway. Most of the hallway repeats the same general design. It's not bad, but it doesn't have all the personality it could have. It doesn't scream living space to me, but just "building". 13/20 ----Crafting---------- -Nice job with the fake background! I really like the fake gradient as well. Using Layer 2 to allow the placement of stars is a nice idea! -The windows are a little randomly placed for my taste, and they look a little prison-esque. 19/20 ----Theme Adherence--- -It's definitely a building, although my only nitpick would be that it doesn't feel completely home-y. 09/10 Overall score: 41/50 ......Entry 5...... ----Creativity-------- -This is really beautiful, and a treehouse theme is really unique, I love it! -I love the spiraly stairs and the bridges, all the houses feel really connected! -The enemies give some very cute personality! 20/20 ----Crafting---------- -There's some slight cutoff surounding the round windows, but it's a limitation of the contest rules. -The choice of colours is very nice, it really creates a nice illusion of depth, having some houses be darker than the ones more towards the front, and the blue background contrasts well with everything else. -The spiral stairs look really beautiful, it's a nice usage of Layer 1/Layer 2! -I love how wobbly the bridges feel, and how they give in to the weight of the enemies walking on them. 19/20 ----Theme Adherence--- -It's a very unique and creative take on a living space, I love it! 10/10 Overall score: 49/50 ......Entry 6...... ----Creativity-------- -The house is a giant bill blaster, that's very fitting! -The little tunnel with the Mega Mole gives a nice little depth to the whole thing. -The paintings are cute! -The general idea behind the house is really nice, but I can't help but feel like it's a little empty. There isn't much furniture or anything beyond the stairs. -I'm assuming the ? blocks are supposed to be light switches? That's a very nice in-universe touch. 13/20 ----Crafting---------- -The stairs look a little weird being detached. -The underground tunnel looks really nice! -Nice job with the lamps. -The windows feel a little randomly-placed. 14/20 ----Theme Adherence--- -It's a house, and it's in the shape of a Bill Blaster, perfect for a Banzai Bill! 10/10 Overall Score: 37/50
